Guess Who's Out of Miles!!

πŸ˜…

Yay end of the month! We would have had enough miles for the month to drive to where we needed, but we had Stake Conference on Sunday and our ride canceled on us that morning and no one else could take us.... so we used literally all of the miles we had left to go. :P Totally worth it though because Stake Conference is awesome!🚢🚢 Lots of walking yesterday and today. :)

We had a Jehovah's Witness knock on our door and give us stuff this morning. :P

Guess what! The Church has put out 2 new pamphlets!!! πŸ˜± Learning and Serving in the Church,
and Families and Temples. I'm so excited to use them!
A whole bunch of stuff to help people do family history and temple work are getting started and I am super excited. The stake here is starting to do a thing where they rent a bus once every two months for recent converts to go to the temple (and bring a member with them to be with them when they do baptisms) and do names they have gathered!!! AND the Family History Center is starting to keep records for each individual who comes on their progress in family history so they are more organized and the consultants know how to help them complete their family history. AND a new beginner resource card, Find Your Family Names: A First Time Guide is now available for us to pass out. AND a Family Discovery Day is happening in May for everyone who wants to find names to take to the temple.
YAY FAMILY HISTORY!!

This week we did a lot of contacting formers. πŸ€“ A couple of them seem to have potential so yay!

Our most progressing investigator right now is a man named Dennis. He has come to the Family History thing on wednesdays a couple times and is really interested in it. He's been reading the Book of Mormon and we're helping him feel comfortable coming to church because his last experience with a church was no bueno. :( He's really funny though and likes talking about spiritual things. :) We hope to bring a member with us this week who we think will be really good for him. :)

Have an awesome week everyone!!

Paige's Confirmation!!

Paige was confirmed yesterday! Hooray! And we had an investigator come to church too! ⛪His name is Stan and he has severe social anxiety... poor guy. He tried to hard to sit through the whole meeting but had to go out in the foyer for the last bit of it. He said he liked it though. :)

We also had Zone Conference this week! Learned looooooooots of awesome stuff. Most of it was on teaching families and family history πŸ‘ͺand family home evening πŸ‘ͺand family family family.πŸ‘ͺ :) Loved it!

We also got a new Ward Mission Leader! He was actually Ward Mission Leader before the one we previously had but moved to Equador... and then came back... :P So now he's Ward Mission Leader again. :P He's awesome though and I'm excited to work with him. He actually was the Ward Mission Leader in the ward he was in in Equador so he's basically going to have that calling all his life. :D

Hmmm.. I don't really know what else to report on... πŸ€”not much else happened this week... trying our very hardest to get Ashten to the temple this friday. Satan is making it very hard, that stinker. But it's gonna happen!πŸ˜‡

Lovin life! Missions are awesome! πŸ€—

I've Got The Love Bug!!!

Hello everybody!

So this week actually wasn't all that exciting, except for the weekend. Then it all just came at us all at once. :P On Wednesday it was my turn to get totally sick. So... we didn't do anything Wednesday. :P Which actually ended up working out because all of our appointments that day canceled on us because everyone else was sick too. Everyone was sick this week, it's kind of funny.
Then on Saturday we had exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders and I went to Fairmont with Sister Kirkby! So I got to spend a whole day with my trainer again and it was awesome. :) We were both super excited. Meanwhile, here in Buckhannon, Sister Zschokke and Sister Marsh taught two awesome member presents and put someone on date for baptism! Wahoo! They also backed the car off a cliff.... I got back and I'm like "I was gone for ONE day!!" :P Tehe. It wasn't too bad though, thank goodness, so we still have a car.
Ok, and this weekend was really cold too. Like, around 0 degrees cold. And everyone was calling around to see if church was canceled. The pioneers didn't cancel their trek to Utah when it got cold!! Pf, wimps. Well, we only had one hour of church... which makes no sense to me... but at least we had some sort of church. Then we had Paige's baptism right after! Finally! It was awesome and she was just the cutest little bundle of joy ever. :) And because Paige is related to just about everyone in the ward (including less actives) we had a lot of less actives at church. Yay! We just need them to keep coming. :P And it was kind of funny because I was still recovering from being sick on wednesday so both of our baptisms that we've had here, one of us has been sick. :P We just have fun with baptisms.

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!

Temple Trip!!

Happy February everyone! It's almost Valentine's Day! πŸ˜˜πŸ˜πŸ’‘πŸ’—πŸ’“❤πŸ’πŸ’žπŸ’πŸ’•πŸ’œπŸ’–πŸ’žπŸ’ŒπŸ’Ÿ Woot.
And the church (I don't know if it's just the stake here or if it's world-wide) is wanting to have a missionary activity on Valentine's Day. I don't know why, but why not. :) So we're having a fireside-sort-of-thing and we're going to be talking to members and doing activities about how to do member missionary work. :) So even we get to be a part of the celebration. :)

The mission has a goal of all the recent converts to go to the temple and do baptisms within 30 days of being confirmed, so we're setting up a temple trip for February 26th.πŸ“† Several members have never been to the temple before or haven't been in several years #WestVirginiaProblems. So we hope that a lot of people (especially those who haven't been) will be able to go and will have a great time. :) I can't go #WestVirginiaMissionaryProblems but that's ok. :) We're excited!

We also got a media referral this last week! So, it's kind of funny because media referrals are when someone goes online and requests a missionary to come either to bring something like a Book of Mormon or Bible or to teach them, so they're supposedly "totally ready for the gospel." The funny thing is I've gotten three in my mission so far and all of them didn't remember requesting missionaries online. πŸ˜„ But Preach My Gospel says that Media referrals can lead to "totally ready" people in their neighborhoods so we always tract around them. :) The woman who requested us this week is a former and we've visited her a couple times. She was taught a couple years ago. We're still in the process of talking to people around her and we have one new potential so far. :)

We visited a member for dinner last week and she referred us to her mother who was totally active in the church years ago but then married a nonmember and stopped going. The member told us that her mother could use some help organizing her storage and that we could maybe meet her that way if we offered to help. Well, right before we were about to leave, the mother came by to visit her and we introduced ourselves and volunteered to help her with her storage. She was shocked that we wanted to help but seemed really excited to have us come over. We went to go help her with her storage but after a little while, my companion and I realized that the woman really just wanted someone to talk to, so we listened and talked about her and her life and the church a little bit and she looked like she felt tons better. Sometimes the best service you can do is to listen. :) πŸ‘‚

Ok, that email's long enough. :) Have a fantastic week everyone!

This photo was taken when the 70 guy came, like, forever ago. :) I am on the far left standing up, second row from the front. I was companions with Sister Anderson at the time, who is standing second to the right, on the same row. Sister Kirkby (first companion) is in the middle of the standing row of Sisters, and Sister Zschokke (who I didn't know at the time) is 4 Sisters from me. :D

Transfers!

Hey!

Sorry I didn't tell ya'll that we had transfers last week... my bad. Two changes happened in my district: different District Leader and a new missionary! Our District Leader left and in his companion is now training! I've only really talked to him twice but he seems great and enthusiastic for the work. :) Our District Leader now is an Elder that was already in our district so we are already used to him. :) Sister Zschokke asked President if there was a chance that she'd leave Buckhannon before her mission ended and he said "not likely" so we think we'll both be here together for another two transfers *knock on wood*.

We're getting a little better at member presents and we're going to start trying to bring members with us to see less actives too. And our paper work here is getting a lot more organized, thank goodness.

We had several less actives at church yesterday! One came that we'd been trying to get there since forever (she's silly) and two others just showed up and we were so excited! One of them is so great and she knows she needs to come to church but work is in the way. Trying to help her out with that. And Ashten got confirmed! She almost didn't make it to church too (goodness gracious) because she didn't have a ride and we spent all saturday night trying to find her one (which is difficult because she lives a half an hour away from the church and no one lives over there) but we got her there!

Paige is getting baptized on Valentines day! Wahoo!

Have a great week!
