Big News!!

Hello!

So today's Sister Zschokke's last day in the mission! Crazy! She's totally stressing out and nervous to go home. Guess what the best part about being someone's last companion is. I get all of her stuff! :D She doesn't want to take home a lot of her clothes and missionary stuff so I get them all. Mwahaha. I'm super excited. I got a whole bunch of teaching aids and cute skirts. :D

We had three new investigators this week! Super excited! And they all show promise. Which is really nice. One is older and is a widow. She's a former and wants to study into the Book of Mormon again. Another is a former as well and she has awesome questions. We love her. Her name is Francine and actually has been in our church building before and she told us about when she was in there she had a dream that two angels came out of the chapel. In a place like this anyone else would have taken that as a sign that this was the church to join, but it actually scared her into not going back. Ha! We're hoping to conquer her fear though. :P The third is Adreana who is married to a member. They're a cute little spanish family. :) He speaks very little English so when he moved her he didn't go to church because we don't have a spanish ward, so we went to the Methodist church that does. That's where he met Adreana. We found out about them through a member here and are teaching him and his family. They have 2 girls and 2 boys. They're so cute. Adreana has a lot of questions (why do you talk about Joseph Smith so much, I thought no one could see God, what's the Book of Mormon, etc). He is awesome though and really wants to go to the temple.

Ok, so this area for the past year (at least) has been a training area, where President usually sends new missionaries. So everyone was thinking that I was going to train after Zschokke left. The way I'd find out is if President called on Sunday because that's when he calls to give leadership assignments to missionaries. So guess what happened Sunday. President called. We were in a lesson when he did so we had to call him back; and Sister Zschokke and I are totally freaking out because that means I'm training a new missionary, because the only other reason he'd be calling was if he was calling me to be a Sister Training Leader, but that couldn't possibly be it because I already knew I was staying in the area and the Sister Training Leaders are in Fairmont..... Well, we call him back and guess what the sly dog does. He calls me to be a Sister Training Leader in my area. So, basically, I'm really bad at making assumptions. :P My new companion is Sister Cutler who is coming from Morgantown (where WV University is) and she has never been a Sister Training Leader either. President said we'll figure it out together. :P

Yep, so that's basically the big news of the week. In other news, we tried ramps for the first time! Ramps are vegetables that grow here that are a mixture of onions and garlic. Veeerrrryyyy stinky. Veeerrryyyyy West Virginian. Veeerrryyyy yummy. :) The member that fed us gave some extra to Sister Zschokke to take home and share with her family. :D Haha!

Ok, this letter's long enough. Love you all! Have a fantastic week!

Exchanges Again and Sister Zschokke's Last Week!

Hello!!

This week was great. We went on exchanges and actually learned a lot and we're applying a lot of the things we learned, which is the best part about learning stuff. :) We were seriously struggling with finding so that was our focus for the exchange and we learned a ton about how we can be better finders. We have several potentials and received several referrals and contacted several referrals too. Woot!
Our fireside is on Sunday!! Super excited. Spreading the word like crazy and hopefully it will turn out well and be effective. Want to involve tons of people.
Sister Zschokke is freaking out because she only has one week left. You can tell that she's about to leave because she is suddenly very bold in her teaching and finding. Lovin it. :) She says she has mixed feelings about going home. :)
Favorite news of the week!: One of the families in our ward has a daughter who seriously jumped off the boat of the gospel and moved away and broke just about every commandment and had no intention of coming back..... until last January. She had several experiences while she was away and made the "very difficult and humbling decision" to come back to her family and the church. She has made a complete 180 and requested us to teach her because she had some questions as to the whys behind the commandments and different doctrine. We have been working with her and guess what. She has decided to go on a mission!!!!!!! She started the process this weekend and is so excited. Her family could not be more thrilled. She told us about her decision after she first made it, and the next week when she told her family (which is, by the way, half the ward because everyone is related here) everyone was so excited. We're very happy for her. :)

I know that this church is the church of Jesus Christ. It changes lives and helps us realize our divine potential as sons and daughters of God. We are His children! And He has SO much in store for each one of us!
Have a fantastic week everybody!!

Fire and Snow!

Heyah everybody!

This week was good, we saw a lot of less actives actually which is really unusual. But we're glad we were able to meet with them all. We just wish they would go to church. :P
We're also working on getting the word out for the ward's first fireside in about 5 years. :D We had a hard time figuring out what to call it because we want nonmembers there too and they'll think to bring s'mores to a "Fireside." That'd be silly. Hopefully it'll turn out great though. :)
Doing lots of finding.... :D Friday night we planned to tract in this neighborhood that hadn't been tracted in forever... and Saturday morning there was tons of snow on the ground and it was still snowing. So we tracted in the snow. :) Brr!
The weather's gotten better since then so us and a couple other missionaries went fishing this morning! That's why I'm not emailing until now. An Elder did catch a fish but everyone else had not luck. It kind of turned into a bug hunt because.. Elders. :)
Sister Zschokke is going home in two weeks so everyone in the ward wants to feed us. :) Not complaining.

Hope you all had a great week!

General Conference!!

Wasn't that the best General Conference ever?!?!?!? I loved it so much!! My favorite was Elder Uchtdorf's talk, as well as Elder Renlund's. Loved it so much!! And I'm going to watch the Priesthood Session today because that session is always the best. :) I thought it was interesting that the General Women's Session was all about service. Apparently we need to serve more. What did you all like or learn from Conference??

This week was awesome.... except we didn't have a car.... there was a dent on our bumper (tiny tiny little dent) but we're good missionaries so we reported it and our car person told us that we should go to the shop and get it taken care of. So the car place was supposed to have it only from wednesday to friday afternoon... but they called friday afternoon and said they found even MORE damages after they took off the bumper and that they won't have it back to us until tuesday afternoon... so we've been walking. Yay. We were able to set up a few member present appointments where the member could take us to the investigator's house, thank goodness.
Something funny: Every time I have walked somewhere while I've been on my mission, people driving by have waved and honked at us. And they wave all excited like they're happy to see us... and then they go by and we have no idea who they are. Every time.

We were able to walk to a couple people that we see here in town and had awesome lessons with them.
Oh! Other funny thing: On Saturday evening it started to rain and the wind started to blow really really hard. We came out of a lesson that was in an apartment complex and didn't have a car.... so we started walking, when we heard a voice up above us yelling at us. It was Brother Landis, who lives on the 6th floor of the apartment complex and just happened to be looking out the window when we started walking home. He is basically like a father to the Sister missionaries because he's awesome.
He yells, "HEEEYYYY!!!!! DOOOO YOOOU HAVE A RIIIIIIIIIIIDE?!!!"
"Um... NOOOO!!! BUT WE'LL BE OOKKAAAYYY!!"
"STOP WALKING! I'LL GET A FRIEND AND DRIVE YOU HOOOOMMMEEE!!!!"
"OK!....THANKS!"
So he and his female neighbor drove us home. :)

Tune in next week for more exciting events from the Life of Sister Miller!
